“Music therapy” is nothing but a relatively modern word that we use to refer to something ancestral: the use of music as a means and not as an end. The goal of music therapy is not to create beautiful or perfect music or play the correct notes, but to use music (sound, rhythm, harmony, and melody) as a tool for restoring and maintaining health.

From a holistic point of view, health concerns not only our physical and biological dimension but also the psychological, emotional, social and spiritual. We can have a migraine, but we can also be sad, we can have difficulty and tension when dealing with a certain person, or we can feel that our life is meaningless. If we understand the human being as a complex bio-psycho-social network, then necessarily our health will depend on the care of all these dimensions. It is when we are willing to consider this definition of health as something integral that music therapy comes into play, since music has the power to affect us at all levels.

David Sitges Sardà
Music therapist

David is a multi-instrumental musician with a degree in Philosophy (UAB), a master’s degree in Music Therapy (UB) and is currently studying Astrology (House XI), which he uses as an auxiliary tool when interpreting the patient’s story. It offers individual sessions of Music Therapy weekly or fortnightly in its office in Les Planes, Sant Cugat. His approach is eclectic and uses analytical music therapy, sonotherapy, free improvisation and guided visualization techniques, among others, all framed within a transpersonal conception of the psyche. He is currently developing his own approach, Astrological Music Therapy.

We do not know how to think of any case in which music cannot help us, but some of the conditions in which music therapy is usually indicated are:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Personal growth and self-knowledge
  • Processes of grief, crisis and transformation
  • Neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson, Alzheimer, …)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Hyperactivity and attention deficit

The sessions last approximately 1.5 hours

El precio de la sesión es de 60€
